  1. Why do Christians sometimes fail to acknowledge God (turn to him or praise him) when circumstances of life (good and bad) come our way?
  2. Read Matthew 10:32. What does this verse mean or imply?
  3. James encouraged people who are sick to seek prayer for healing? What is your experience of healing in response to prayer?
  4. Jesus’ ministry was often punctuated with healing of sick people, and he encouraged us to do the kinds of things he did. Why does this not happen today as much as it did in the beginning days of the Christian church?
  5. James encouraged people to confess their sins to each other. What might this look like, and what is the point of doing so?
  6. 1 Kings 17 & 18 tell the story of Elijah’s battle, and victory, with false gods. In what way can his life be a template or example for us in the 21st century?
  7. The last two verses of the book of James (v.19-20) are an interesting challenge. How do we do this? And how do we do it without picking the speck out of someone else’s eye when we might have a long in our own?
