Joy Ministries is an interdenominational Christian network that gives individuals with an intellectual disability the opportunity to come together to worship and learn about God.

Hamilton Central Baptist Church is proud to be local expression of Joy Ministries in the Hamilton area.

As many traditional services are not able to cater to the special needs of these people, Joy Ministries provides a safe and positive environment where they can come and learn about Jesus through prayer, worship and activities.

Everyone is welcome at Joy Ministries – people with intellectual disabilities, their family, friends and support people.
Services are generally held on a monthly basis (third Saturday of the month, starting at 1:30pm) and usually involve a time of prayer, singing and Bible Study, an activity designed to further develop an understanding of the Bible message, followed by friendly catch-ups and afternoon tea. (A gold coin donation helps to cover costs!)

Besides these services our Joy Ministries team offers a range of activities like camps and Life Groups.

Joy Ministries in Hamilton also participates in and supports other expressions of ELEVATE – Christian Disabilities Trust. Click here for further information on ELEVATES ministries.

Joy Ministries in Hamilton also participates in the annual ELEVATE National Camp, held every year on Labour Weekend at Totara Springs Christian Centre in Matamata. Since its small beginnings in the 1980’s it has expanded to an annual camp of over 300 people. This is a wonderful place for people with and without disabilities to share their faith, encourage others, grow and make new friendships or rekindle existing ones with like-minded people.
